A Stunning Retaining Wall & Entryway Transformation
There is nothing more rewarding than taking a homeowner’s vision and turning it into a lasting, structural reality. Recently, Brisbane Blocklaying had the pleasure of working with homeowners Jon & Vicki at their beautiful property in Bardon, Queensland, to transform their entrance and outdoor living area.
Vicki found our website online, and after our initial consultation, we knew this project would create a stunning, high-value addition to their home.
From Vision to Design
The process began with a site visit to meet with Jon & Vicki at their home. We walked the property, discussing their goals to improve structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. I took detailed notes and made sketches, visualising a design that bridged the gap between practicality and modern, elegant design.
Back in the office, I designed a comprehensive plan that included:
Extensive earthworks for site preparation.
Block retaining walls with a rendered finish.
Customised planter boxes to green up the space.
Concrete steps and pathways for better access.
Once I presented the concept drawings and quote, the design was approved, and we were ready to get to work.
A Month-LonG Transformation
Over the couse of one month, the Brisbane Blocklaying team transformed the area. The project involved significant structural work, including:
Substantial Footings: Ensuring a rock-solid foundation for all structures.
Rendered Block Retaining Walls: A durable, rendered finish was chosen to create a sleek, clean look.
Integrated Features: We incorporated integrated lights, an intercom system, and a custom letterbox right into the entryway structure, adding both security and convenience.
Hardscaping: Construction of new concrete steps, pathways, and planter boxes to create usable, tiered, and aesthetic spaces.
Entryway Fencing: The final touch included modern aluminium batten fence panels and a matching pedestrian gate.
The Results: A Lasting Finish
Jon & Vicki were absolutely over the moon with the final results. The new entryway and retaining walls have not only enhanced the curb appeal but also significantly improved the usability of their yard.
